The Benjies Way
At Benjamin Adlard Primary School, our approach to teaching and learning is guided by The Benjies Way — a shared set of research-informed principles that ensure every child receives consistently high-quality teaching every day. We believe that exceptional teaching is the single most important factor in improving pupil outcomes, particularly for our most disadvantaged learners. Our vision is simple: Every child, every day, making a difference.
The Benjies Way creates classrooms built on high expectations, strong relationships and well-established routines, enabling all pupils to feel safe, confident and ready to learn. Lessons follow a clear structure that helps children build knowledge step-by-step, practise new skills with guidance, and then apply learning independently. Teachers use proven approaches such as retrieval practice, explicit vocabulary teaching, careful questioning and guided modelling to help pupils remember more and understand more deeply.
We are committed to Access for All. Teachers make thoughtful adaptations and reasonable adjustments so that every child can engage successfully with learning. Additional support, visual aids, scaffolding and specialist resources remove barriers and ensure that learning objectives remain ambitious for all.
Assessment and feedback are continuous, helping teachers identify misconceptions quickly and provide timely support. Supporting adults play an active role in lessons, working alongside teachers to maintain high engagement and provide targeted help where needed.
Through The Benjies Way, we ensure that teaching at Benjamin Adlard is consistent, inclusive and rooted in the best available educational research — so that every child thrives.
