Year 3
Our class teachers are Miss Royston-German and Mr Cooper, Mrs Lloyd is our Teaching Assistant.
In Year 3 we will be focussing on a range of texts in our English and reading lessons, including The Heart and Bottle, The Lost Spells and Arthur and the Golden Rope. We will explore a range of different genres, such as poetry and graphic novels, as well as writing our own narratives. This year we will be working really hard on our handwriting skills too. In Year 3, we love to read, so we will ensure that every day the children in our class have the opportunity to read, be read to or both of the above!
In maths, we are continuing to secure our knowledge of 1,2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables as well as introducing new calculation methods like column addition and subtraction.
In our wider curriculum, we have the opportunity to visit Roots Outdoor Education and learn how to safely whittle wood as part of our learning in DT. We will be learning all about the human body, light, plants and forces and magnets in Science, and we are improving our map skills in Geography whilst studying topics such as the UK, its regions and climate zones. Later on in the year we will get the chance to go swimming for one of our PE lessons too! In art, we will continue to hone our skills in drawing and painting units. In computing we will learn about stop frame animation, data logging and keeping safe online to name a few of our focus points. We will learn about the Stone Age to from the Iron Age, ancient civilisations and Ancient Egypt in History. We will continue to learn French and in Music we will be continuing to learn to play the glockenspiel. In RE will continue our learning about religions of the world and in PSHE we will think about growing up in Gainsborough as well as a variety of other topics this year.
