Welcome to the Artists class page!

Our class teacher is Mrs Senescall, and our lovely teaching assistants are Mrs Wright and Mrs Young.

The best thing about being in Year 1 is being part of an amazing team who are kind, helpful and resilient! We learn so much in a short space of time, and we can’t wait to show you what we can achieve.

In DT, we are exploring wheels. We will be designing, making and evaluating our own vehicle. We will need to test these and will be having a race on the playground with the finished designs! In Art we are exploring the work of Brigitte Riley! We are learning about different sorts of lines and making art work with these. For our Geography this term we are learning about our local area. The children will be learning to name both human and physical features of Gainsborough. We will learn how to read and make a map. I know the children will really enjoy this and will be excited to find out more information. In PE this term we are doing gymnastics and games. We will be looking at floor exercises and creating our own floor sequence to perform to others! We will be spending some time this term exploring relationships in PSHE, how to make friends and how to ask for help when we need it. 

Our PE days will be on a Monday and Wednesday Children can come to school in their kit and wear it all day. Thank you for your continued support with this. Please make sure that your child have a named water bottle with water in it- no juice or fizzy drinks please!

Our timetable also includes daily phonics, maths fluency, English, guided reading, art, geography, history, RE, computing and PSHE. We always enjoy these topics and get fully engaged in the learning. I know the children will love coming home and telling you all about our new learning.

We will continue to change reading books each day providing there is a signature/page number or comment. We will continue to send your child home with a reading for pleasure book to share with you.
