Uniform
Uniform is an important part of our school identity. It helps pupils feel part of our community and prepares them for future expectations in work and life. At Benjamin Adlard, pupils should wear a blue jumper or cardigan (logo optional), a white polo shirt (logo optional), grey or black trousers, a loose‑fitted grey or black skirt, and black shoes. During the summer months, pupils may wear a navy gingham dress (logo optional).
PE Kit
On PE days, pupils should wear a blue or white T‑shirt (logo optional), navy or black shorts, and plimsolls or trainers. In winter, pupils may also need a navy or black tracksuit and outdoor trainers.
Roots Kit (Outdoor Learning)
On Roots days, pupils should bring a navy or black tracksuit or hoodie (logo optional), a blue or white sports T‑shirt (logo optional), navy or black tracksuit bottoms or leggings, trainers (black or white), and wellies.
Swimming Kit
Pupils need a plain swimsuit or swimming trunks, a towel, and a swim cap in line with pool hygiene rules.
Jewellery and Hair
Pupils may wear a small pair of stud earrings and a watch, which must be removed or covered for PE. All hairstyles, including protective and religious styles, are welcome. Hair should not obstruct vision or create safety risks.
Coats, Bags and Footwear
Pupils may wear any plain coat suitable for the weather. Bags should be large enough for books and equipment, with no restrictions on colour or branding. Trainers should be safe and comfortable, with no specific brand or colour required.
Where to Buy Uniform
Families can choose the most affordable option. Branded items are available from Uniform Direct, 9 Market Street, Gainsborough, DN21 2BL (Tel: 01427 616105), or via their website. Non‑branded items can be purchased from supermarkets and high‑street retailers and are fully acceptable.
Second‑Hand Uniform
We are committed to making uniform affordable and accessible. Our school uniform bank is available all year round, and families can request items discreetly through the school office, free of charge. New families receive information about second‑hand uniform well before the new school year. We may also offer termly second‑hand uniform events or swap shops, and families can request items privately at any time. Where available, we will signpost families to local uniform exchange schemes.
Expectations for Our School Community
Pupils
Pupils are expected to wear the correct uniform on school premises, when travelling to and from school, and at school events or trips where required. Pupils may contact Luke Lovelidge, Headteacher, if they need an adjustment to the uniform policy linked to a protected characteristic.
Parents and Carers
Parents and carers are expected to ensure their child’s uniform is clean, clearly labelled, and in good condition. They may contact Luke Lovelidge, Headteacher (llovelidge@benjaminadlard.anthemtrust.uk), to request adjustments related to protected characteristics or uniform cost. Concerns or complaints should be raised in line with the school’s complaints policy. Any disputes about cost will be resolved locally and fairly, with the school working closely with families to find a suitable solution.
